Comment: I went to hospital once for a completely seperate reason and was forced to see a psychiatrist because one of the nurses noticed that I used to cut myself. USED TO being the important thing, I had stopped by then. It was very sneaky, because they never actually forced me only made it clear that if I was to not see this person I wouldn't be getting out anytime soon.
I have got out of it by telling her exactly what I think she wants to hear every time I went. I advise this action for everyo

Psychiatry is a relatively new area, However not a new phenomenon Maddness has always existed, the fringes can be sociologically interpreted, but nevertheless has always , in all ages had a real and tangible SOCIAL IMPACT negitavely...

Yes Cultural interpretations of mental illness do exist, BUT!!!! as a worker in an acute psychiatric hospital, servicing a large portion of Victoria (Aust) I see many who are ACTIVELY suicidal, floridly psychotic, paranoid,a danger to themselves and others including loved ones and dependents!!! Mind altering drugs are often involved including alcohol and more typically marajhuana.
